LINCOLN (SNR) – The Marian Mantle Group in Lincoln marked its 10th anniversary Aug. 14.
The Marian Mantle Group is dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows and members ask her to intercede for the return of loved ones to the practice of the Catholic Faith.
As a “Silent Strength Prayer Group,” members pray for prodigals to return to Catholicism, and for grace for each other to persevere, like St. Monica. Members offer prodigals the unconditional love of Christ.
In honor of the anniversary, Betsy Meunier, director of the Marian Mantle Silent Strength Prayer Group Office in Kansas City, visited the Lincoln group and spoke at their Aug. 14 meeting.
“She emphasized that we are not alone, or at fault, when our children no longer practice their Faith,” said local leader Kathy Neugebauer. “Many parents have the terrible experience of seeing their sons or daughters leaving the faith of their childhood. When this happens, despite everything, we can continue to hope, believe and love. We know God will never abandon our child and we can love by continuing to pray and forgive. In this way we can achieve God’s peace in our lives.”
The Lincoln Marian Mantle Group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 3 p.m. in Madonna Hospital, 56th and South streets, in the Lancaster Room.
“Our hope is that every parent, grandparent, relative and friend will someday see their prodigal return to the sacraments,” Neugebauer said. “We know that Mary understands our pain and we ask her to take their hand, and walk with them, as well as asking her to carry our prayers to the feet of her son, Jesus.”
A second Marian Mantle Group is being formed and will be led by Lisa Sullivan, with meetings after the 5:30 p.m. Mass at St. Michael Church, 9101 S 78th St., Lincoln, on the first, third and fifth Tuesdays of each month. Lisa can be reached at 402-314-1711.
