‘Jesus my Friend’ retreat for adults with disabilities

Omaha Knights to sponsor Oct. 27 event

OMAHA (SNR) – The St. Robert Bellarmine Knights of Columbus Council 10108 of Omaha will sponsor the “Jesus my Friend Retreat” Oct. 27 for adults 18 years and older who have developmental, cognitive and/or physical disabilities.

The retreat is an interactive morning filled with stories, scriptures, crafts, music, and games focusing on helping participants experience Jesus as their best friend and better understand His personal love for each one of them.

A variety of volunteers ranging from mothers of developmentally disabled individuals to special education teachers will present the simple lessons based on scriptures. Father Eugene McReynolds, OSB will also be present for some of the day and will lead the opening session. He will be assisted by the Knights of Columbus of St. Robert’s Council, to create a unique atmosphere for the attendees to encounter Christ and one another as friends.

The registration deadline is Oct. 13, and attendance will be limited to 50 participants, so early registration is encouraged. There is no fee, and a t-shirt is included for each participant.

The retreat will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 27 at the St. Robert Bellarmine Mainelli Center, 11802 Pacific St., Omaha.
