LINCOLN (SNR) - St. Patrick Parish in Lincoln hosted its fifth annual Veterans Day Mass Saturday, Nov. 10, in honor of all who have served in the United States armed forces.

The event was sponsored by the St. Patrick Knights of Columbus Council 13576.
Father Troy Schweiger, pastor of St. Patrick, celebrated the Mass. The Pius X-Men and AcaFellas men’s choirs from Pius X High School provided music.
Veterans and active personnel were encouraged to attend in uniform, and after Mass, two veterans from the parish – Laura Wilson and Patrick Stanosheck – each received a “Quilt of Valor” from the Quilts of Valor® Foundation of Winterset, Iowa.
Wilson served in the US Air Force 1983-89. Her quilt was presented by Charlene Hobelman, Quilts of Valor member.
Stanoshek was in the Navy 1968-73 and reinlisted in the Reserves in 1982, serving until 2009. His Quilt of Valor was presented by his sister Mary Steffen, who made his quilt.
Organizer Richard Zierke presented a program, “Signers of the Declaration of Independence,” and an honor guard from the ROTC program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln posted the colors.
