LINCOLN (SNR) - Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska is accepting donations for their assistance to the victims of flooding.
The agency shared an aerial photo March 18 of the flooded Sapp Bros center by Nebraska City and Highway 2.
“The devastation, viewed from the air, is incredible,” the post read. “Just as incredible, and heartbreaking, is the damage being lived through on the ground. So many have lost so much... and there is more to come. It will take all of us, working together, to recover from this disaster.”
CSS is accepting monetary donations to assist those affected by the horrific and ongoing flood/storm damage in Nebraska. Checks may be mailed to the administrative offices (2241 O St. Lincoln NE 68510) or donations may be made online by the “donate” link on the CSS website, https://www.cssisus.org.
Those who donate by check should list “flood relief” in the check memo. Online donors may designate “flood relief” in the “specific designation for your gift” field.
Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska also held a bottled water drive for Peru State College, and delivered donated water March 20.
The students at Peru State College were displaced by flooding for several days. The water supply is contaminated and will be for the foreseeable future.
“We understand that Lincolnites are being asked to conserve water,” they said. “In times of trial, we are called to live our Christian lives by using and conserving what we need and helping those who have nothing.”
Donations of bottled water were collected at the Lincoln CSS office and donors were given coupons to Gianna’s Java and Gelato.
