Sister Thomas Patrick Dooley Dies Jan. 4

DAVID CITY (SNR) – Dominican Sister of Peace Thomas Patrick Dooley, OP, 82, died Jan. 4 in David City.

She was born Eulalia M. Dooley in Greeley Feb. 23, 1927. She entered the Dominican Novitiate of the former St. Catharine of Siena congregation in St. Catharine, Ky., in 1950 and made her profession of vows in 1952, taking the religious name of Sister Thomas Patrick.

Sister Thomas Patrick earned a bachelor’s degree from Ursuline College in Louisville, Ky. in biology with minors in secondary education, theology and philosophy. She also earned a master’s degree in biology and ecology from St. Mary’s College in Winona, Minn. She taught in Iowa, Illinois, Arkansas, Massachussets and Kentucky. In Nebraska she taught at Kearney Catholic, Sacred Heart High and Spalding Academy in Greeley, and at Aquinas High School in David City from 1983-91.

Sister Thomas Patrick is survived by a niece, nephew and cousins.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 8 at St. Mary Church in David City. Chermok Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Memorial gifts may be sent to the Aquinas Endowment Fund, Aquinas Guardian Angel Fund or to the Dominican Sisters of Peace at 2320 Airport Dr., Columbus, OH 43219-2098.
