A unique Catholic men’s retreat will be held Sept. 11-12: “Forged in Faith X.”
The “X” stands for “experience,” and it includes overnight camping, blacksmithing, trap shooting, as well as food and speakers. Retreatants may also participate in Eucharistic adoration and Mass.
Held at the 100-acre “Oaks Forest,” located at 13611 Pioneers, Lincoln, the retreat starts on a Friday evening with fellowship and a meal cooked over an open fire. Dinner is followed by the first talk on what it means to be a Christian man in the world today. Adoration will follow, and participants may wind down around a bonfire.
The following morning will start early with a hearty breakfast before retreatants experience the life of a blacksmith. After a morning reflection, small groups will take turns as each member forges his own crosses out of steel. When not forging metal, men can learn about firearms and take some shots at the shooting range.
In addition to the experiences and speakers, participants will have opportunities for spiritual direction, intercessory prayer, and priests will be available for Mass and confessions.
The retreat will conclude by 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
