Women of all ages are invited to grow closer with Christ during the Regnum Christi Women’s Spiritual Exercises retreat Oct. 15-18 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House near Waverly.
Based on the Spiritual Exercises developed by St. Ignatius of Loyola, the four-day retreat invites participants to meditate on the principal truths of the Catholic faith, with a particular emphasis on following and imitating Christ.
Regnum Christi, Latin for the “Kingdom of Christ,” is a worldwide apostolic movement of Catholics who aim to build Christ’s Kingdom on earth through evangelization and engage in apostolic action.
The retreat will be led by Father Brett Taira, LC, a priest of the Legionaries of Christ and chaplain at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan. It is open to all women, including those who are not members of Regnum Christi.
In addition to the opportunity for the sacraments, Eucharistic adoration and the rosary, there will also be the chance for spiritual direction with Father Gary Coulter, director of the retreat house. Through dedicated spiritual direction time, retreatants will be able to reflect on how to further focus on their connection to the Lord.
Women are encouraged to step away from the distractions and commotion of everyday life to grow closer to the Father.
The retreat begins Oct. 15 with 5:30 p.m. Mass and a social at 6:30 p.m. The retreat will conclude Sunday, Oct. 18, with Mass and lunch. A shorter weekend option beginning Friday evening is available, but attendees are urged to experience the full retreat if possible. A virtual retreat option is also available as well.
