The Diocese of Lincoln’s annual Diocesan Communications Workshop Oct. 22 will include some new additions from those held the previous two years.
The third annual workshop will feature an in-person keynote speaker, an additional session, more time together and a new location.
Sarah Fiorentino, the chief digital officer for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and a national leader in digital communications and evangelization will be in Lincoln to lead participants through the workshop. The previous two years, the keynote speakers addressed the group remotely.
Fiorentino’s experience includes leading digital outreach for Pope Francis’ 2015 U.S. visit, collaborating with the Vatican on the Holy Father’s monthly prayer intentions, and launching Grotto Network at the University of Notre Dame. A consultant to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Committee on Communications, Sarah helps dioceses and parishes move from publishing content to intentionally evangelizing and building community online.
“I had the opportunity to watch her present last year in Wichita and she was excellent,” said Dennis Kellogg, director of communications for the Diocese of Lincoln. “She’s very creative and can relate to those working in any size school or parish. We’re very excited to be able to bring her here to be our featured speaker for this year’s workshop.”
For more than 15 years, Fiorentino has helped Catholic organizations navigate a rapidly changing media landscape, with a focus on helping dioceses and parishes move from simply publishing content to building community and bringing the Gospel to life online.
The workshop will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, in Dawson Hall at the Pope St. John XXIII Diocesan Center, 3700 Sheridan Blvd., Lincoln. The event is open to anyone who is involved with communications at a parish, school or ministry in the diocese. Priests, religious and lay people are welcome to attend the free training. Lunch is included.
The day will include a session on the CANVA design platform with Mary Sweeney, CEO and founder of Mary Catherine Marketing based in Lincoln. It will feature tips on how to effectively use CANVA to design parish bulletins and school newsletters. There will also be a session to share best practices among those attending the workshop.
Participants must register in advance (preferably by Thursday, Oct. 15) to attend the training. Registration is open at https://lincolndiocese.regfox.com/07-dio-free-communications-workshop2026.
“This is an excellent training opportunity for those who work with communications in our diocese,” Kellogg said. “I hope parishes and schools will consider sending those who could benefit to this workshop.”
