The diocesan Teachers’ Institute was held Oct. 12 at Pius X High School in Lincoln. The annual event provides educators from the 30 schools of the Catholic Diocese of Lincoln to gather for a day of inspiration and professional growth.
Vern Steiner, founder and president emeritus of the Emmaus Institute for Biblical Studies, presented the keynote address, “The Two Paths and What’s at Stake in the Choice: A Curriculum for Keeping Our Kids Catholic.”
Throughout the day, educators and guests presented breakout sessions. Dozens were available, with some focusing on specific grade levels and subjects, or geared toward groups like administrators, priests, or coaches. Many sessions provided educators with classroom tools like apps and other resources, or offered assistance in applying theology throughout various coursework. Sessions also addressed teachers’ personal betterment, focusing on mental health, personal prayer or faith formation. Presentations were available on the Shroud of Turin and Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Roundtable discussions were held for teachers across the school system to visit with their peers and learn from shared experiences.
