Auction to benefit Tecumseh school, parish

10th annual event to feature brand-new car as raffle prize

TECUMSEH (SNR) – St. Andrew Parish in Tecumseh will host their 10th annual auction and dinner Saturday, Sept. 13.

“This fundraiser has been pivotal in supporting both parish and school for a decade,” said Father Thomas Dunavan, pastor.
This year the event will include cocktails and appetizers, and an all-you-can-eat prime rib dinner. The tickets are $30 and available from Missy Fleck at 402-335-7186.

There is also a silent and live auction, as well as a raffle with nine prizes, including a new Chevrolet Sonic four-door sedan. Raffle tickets are $20 and available from Nancy Thies at 402-335-7570. To donate items for the silent or live auction, contact Dana Johnson at 402-335-3135.

The event has grown through the years.

“It began by raising about $5,000 or $7,000,” Father Dunavan said, “and is now closer to $30,000.”

In those 10 years, auction funds have helped with operations of the parish, repainting and plaster work in the parish hall, and assistance in the purchase of a new boiler in the church.

“The auction also helped St. Andrew Parish establish an endowment through the Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Lincoln,” said Father Dunavan. “This year we hope to use some of the funds for new landscaping on the parish property.”
