Fr. James Meysenburg to present ‘Is There Room in Your Inn?’ Dec. 12-14
WAVERLY (SNR) - Father James Meysenburg will offer a weekend retreat for men and women Dec.12-14 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly, on the Advent topic “Is There Room in Your Inn?”
All are invited to join in spiritual preparation for Christmas, recalling that Jesus was laid in a manger because there was no room for him in the inn.
“If our hearts are as an inn, do we have room for Jesus in us?” Father Meysenburg asked. He said too many may miss the opportunity to have Christ reign in their hearts, a gift that far exceeds all earthly presents.
“Prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with a retreat to open your heart and your life to Him.”
Father Meysenburg, celebrating his 25th year of priestly ordination, is superintendent of Pius X High School in Lincoln and has spent much of his priesthood in high school ministry.
He said retreats are important for laity because, “It’s so easy to get caught up in the ‘thick of thin things.’
“We need to step back and prioritize, to put emphasis on the things and relationships that are most important, most especially our relationship with God,” he said.
Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House offers a peaceful atmosphere of prayer and recollection, situated on a spacious acreage near Waverly. The facility includes 50 single rooms, each with a private bath. Each retreat includes meditations by the retreat master, and opportunities for silence, prayer, Adoration and the Sacraments.
Retreats typically begin with Mass at 8:15 p.m. on Friday, and end with Mass on Sunday, followed by lunch.
Upcoming events in January include the LDCCW symposium for women Jan. 16-17, and a retreat for men and women Jan. 30-Feb. 1 with Father Holoubek, “Unbound-Breaking Free from Spiritual Wounds.”
