LINCOLN (SNR) – Frassati of Lincoln invites young adults to a Lenten retreat Feb. 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Marian Sisters’ motherhouse, 7303 N. 112th St., Waverly. Participants may register for all or part of the day.
Frassati of Lincoln, following the spirituality of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, seeks to provide young adults (age 22-40) in Lincoln the chance to encounter Jesus Christ through the Catholic Church. The group provides opportunities for intellectual and spiritual formation, service to the community, and social events.
Frassati is run by a group of volunteers (clergy, single, married). They have invited Father Gabriel and Brother Malachy, both of the CFRs in New York, to lead the Feb. 21 retreat.
Father Gabriel Mary Bakkar, C.F.R. has spent time with members of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati’s family, so will help those at the retreat enter more fully into the spirituality of Bl. Pier Giorgio.
“I met (Blessed Pier Giorgio’s) sister Luciana and his niece Wanda at World Youth Day in 2000 and 2005,” he said. “I visited their home in Pollone three times, and spent many days with Wanda.
Father Gabriel helped start a Frassati Fellowship young adult group in New York in 2002.
RSVPs are required by Feb. 17. Participants may visit www.frassatilincoln.com and select to attend the morning session of a light breakfast, talks, time for silent prayer, confession, the 12:30 p.m. Mass followed by lunch, and the afternoon session - again, talks, time for silent prayer, and confession.
