LINCOLN (NCC/SNR) - The Nebraska Catholic Conference announced the hiring of Tom Venzor as the associate director for pro life and family.
The Nebraska Catholic Conference is an agency that represents the mutual public policy interests of the three Catholic Bishops in Nebraska.
Venzor began his employment Sept. 14.
In this role, he is responsible for coordinating and directing pro-life programs for all three dioceses and their parishes in Nebraska. This includes managing a large grassroots network of parish pro-life coordinators, initiating statewide pro-life efforts, and lobbying at the state and federal level.
In addition to pro-life duties, Venzor will assist with policy issues related to family, marriage and sexuality.
A native of Schuyler, Venzor graduated from Doane College and the University of Nebraska College of Law. He also spent three years studying for the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Omaha.
While in law school, Tom wrote two published scholarly articles dealing with pro-life issues at the state and international level. His prior work experience includes directing a parish youth ministry program, legal work in an immigration clinic and, most recently, serving as legislative aide to a Nebraska state senator.
“Tom’s education, experience, formation in our Catholic faith and his pro-life knowledge and commitment will be tremendous assets to the work of the Nebraska Catholic Conference,” said Greg Schleppenbach, executive director. “We are very excited to have him join us in doing the important work of the Conference.”
