Newman Center to host prayers for missing man

LINCOLN (SNR) – The St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center in Lincoln will host an hour of prayer at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10 for Craig Baxter, who has been missing since Jan. 4.

The Newman Center hosted a Mass and prayers for Baxter Jan. 6. St. Patrick Church in North Platte also held a Mass for Baxter Jan. 6.

Baxter, 28, of North Platte, was staying in Lincoln and was expected to begin working with Omaha Eye & Laser Institute in Omaha. He is a fourth-year student at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. His family alerted authorities after he missed several appointments Jan. 4.

The Lincoln Police Department is heading the search, and other agencies have offered their assistance, including the Nebraska State Patrol.

Baxter is 6’1″ with dark hair and eyes. He was driving a dark blue, 2005 BMX X3 SUV with the license plate 15-B187. Anyone with information is asked to contact law enforcement. A Facebook group named “Craig Baxter Missing … URGENT PLEA FOR HELP” had nearly 23,000 members by Jan. 9.
