Story by Tess Wahlmeier
(SNR) - Kris Sarver, a member of St. Clara Parish in Peru and a past president of the Lincoln Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, will tell her story of coming home to the Catholic Church on EWTN’s “The Journey Home.”
The episode will air Monday, May 2 at 7 p.m. (CT).
“To know God is to love him, and I hope that’s what people learn from my story of my journey home,” Sarver said. “God is a God of mercy, and He loves you and He wants you to come home, and He’ll reach for you, no matter where you are, no matter how low you’ve fallen. He’ll reach for you if you just reach back.”
A former atheist and agnostic, Sarver said that telling her story is nerve-wracking, but she sees the fruit that comes from it.
“I think part of evangelization is that God called me to tell this story,” she said. “I love ‘The Journey Home.’ I love watching it because it fills me with hope because I see people, in different ways, being called home by the mercy of God.
“To me,” she continued, “it’s this hope-filled show, and it does get people to open their hearts to Christ, and that’s what I needed. I needed to open my heart to Christ, and it took this huge crisis in my own life to let me do that. Even if one person could hear His voice through my story, or have hope because of my story, then it’s all worth it.”
Sarver’s appearance on “The Journey Home” airs Monday, May 2 at 7 p.m. (CT), and will re-air Tuesday, May 3 at 12 a.m. (CT), and Friday, May 6 at 12 p.m. (CT). Find EWTN using the online channel finder. The program will also be posted on the Coming Home Network website, chnetwork.org.
