LINCOLN (SNR) – The Lincoln Catholic Athletic League recently completed its track season, with 11 schools participating.
The seventh- and eighth-grade track season culminated in a May 14 final meet at Pius X High School in Lincoln, with the combined team from St. Teresa and Sacred Heart schools placing first in the team championship.
The second-place team championship went to St. Joseph School in Lincoln, followed by the combined team of North American Martyrs/St. Mary schools.
Bishop James Conley was present to assist handing out medals to individual award-winners. Medals were awarded to the top three finishers in each event, and ribbons were provided for fourth-, fifth- and sixth-place finishers.
Special ‘triple crown’ awards went to eighth-grader Jon Andreasen and seventh-grader Allison Harper, both of St. Teresa School. They were acknowledged at a school assembly May 20, by league director Richard Zierke.
Other individual awards include the Richard Zierke Award given to the fastest eighth-grade girl and boy in the 400M sprint. This year’s recipients were Avalon Kassebaum of North American Martyrs, and Jon Andreasen of St. Teresa.
The Skip Miller Memorial was given to the fastest eighth-grade girl and boy in the 1600M run. This year’s recipients were Lizzy Kramer of St. Joseph and Domani Occansey of St John the Apostle.
