Bellwood parish to host mission March 3-8

BELLWOOD – Presentation Parish in rural Bellwood (Marietta) will hold a parish mission Sunday, March 5 through Wednesday, March 8.

During a mission, the people of the parish gather each evening for a series of presentations on how Christian lives can be transformed by the virtues.

The March 5-8 mission talks will be preached by Father Ben J. Cameron, C.P.M. of the Fathers of Mercy. It will be titled, “Seven Capital Virtues:  Overcoming the Seven Capital Sins.”

Each session will begin with confessions at 6 p.m., followed by the conference at 7 p.m. Father Cameron will explain how virtues overcome sins each evening: “Humility and Meekness: Overcoming Pride and Anger” March 5, “Generosity and Temperance: Overcoming Avarice and Gluttony” March 6, “Chastity: Overcoming Lust” March 7 and “Brotherly Love and Diligence: Overcoming Envy and Sloth” March 8.

That final talk March 8 will follow a Mass celebrated at 7 p.m., and a parish social will be held at the closing of the conference.

All are welcome to attend one or all of the conferences. Each evening’s service will last around one hour. Books and gifts will be available after talks each evening for purchase. Child care will be available.

Presentation Parish includes 64 families. Father Janusz Marzynski is pastor.
