Gianna’s Fatima celebration May 13

LINCOLN (SNR) – Gianna’s Java and Gelato will host a celebration May 13 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the apparitions at Fatima.

The coffee shop will begin the celebration at 8 a.m. Musical entertainment will begin at 9 a.m., featuring many groups throughout the day, such as the Ostry Family Singers, the Cantabella women’s choir from Pius X High School, the Cristo Rey Parish Singers and more.

At 11 a.m., Father Scott Courtney, pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Geneva and St. Mary Parish in Shickley, and also a recurring guest on EWTN’s “Life On The Rock,” will present the story of Fatima. In the afternoon, stories of the rosary will be told before Father Courtney leads the rosary at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel adjacent to the Guadalupe Center at Catholic Social Services.

Throughout the event, art by Sue Kouma Johnson of Catholic Art & Jewelry and Laura Duggan of Bella Studios will be available for purchase. Twenty-five percent of the sales will be donated to Catholic Social Services. Also, items up for raffle include a framed print by Sue Kouma Johnson, a necklace featuring a vintage Fatima medal by Laura Duggan, and Gianna’s Java and Gelato gift cards. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit Catholic Social Services and its work with the poor and needy of our diocese.

Gianna’s Java and Gelato, 2241 O St., opened in 2016 to benefit Catholic Social Services. The shop sells coffee and espresso drinks, breakfast and lunch options, gelato and more. The store also includes an art wall, Wi-Fi, and a welcoming environment where people can gather around the fireplace to talk about and deepen their faith. The bookshelves are stocked with quality reading materials, and, as with the May 13 Fatima celebration, Gianna’s Java and Gelato provides regular events featuring speakers, musicians, and artists.
