By Fr. Justin Fulton

Back in the day I remember at our old house on 16th Street we had a TV that had five channels: 3, 6, 7, 10, and 12.

At the Fulton household, we watched the news a lot and our pre-school consisted of Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. For a Friday treat we would watch M*A*S*H* or Magnum P.I. It was a pretty good time growing up.

It astonishes me the amount of television and web-streaming services there are now. Regular cable, Internet TV, streaming services, and tons of channels—the world is full of entertainment, but in my humble opinion I feel the world is never really entertained. There is an emptiness in every human heart that only Jesus can fill.

Anyway, Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska has a presence on social media including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Join up with us by searching for “Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska” to see how we all are joining together to bring Hope in the Good Life.

We also have a presence on YouTube... which is where I make a simple ask of you: Would you go to www.cssisus.org and watch a great five-minute clip that highlights all we do in a typical year at CSS? Or go to Youtube.com and search for ‘Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska’ and watch the video from there. We feel it does a great job of sharing our story of how we help bring Jesus’ love to the needy and vulnerable of southern Nebraska.

We like to say that we don’t just serve Catholics—we serve everyone because we are Catholic. Many people throughout our state do not understand this and perhaps you can help us share that story by viewing the awesome footage. And if you can share it on your social media page or just share it with a neighbor that would be akin to spreading the Gospel as well!

We are very proud of the work we do here. We feel in an age where people and our youth are leaving the Church in droves, we must be able to serve the poor and vulnerable to present the Church in a positive light. We take our work seriously. We give food and drink to the hungry, working poor, and homeless. We provide safe homes for women and children escaping domestic violence and death. We help save babies in danger of being aborted. We provide counseling to those who are depressed and down. We provide rent and utilities so people do not become homeless. We help provide jobs to those we help. We help people escaping from the horrors and death of war. We help people find clothing and housing. We help people to begin living greatly again. And we can only do all of this with your help, prayers, your good names, and with you sharing our story with others. And we thank you always with our prayers and our deep gratitude.

Thank you for your support and your faith in Jesus Christ. May God bless us always!
