I am happy to announce that on Sunday, Sept. 25, we will hold our annual “Bountiful Harvest Banquet” in the newly renovated Hastings City Auditorium. This year, we will be giving the Caritas Christi award to Wayne and Monica Mousel for their love of Jesus Christ and His presence in the poor and needy.
We will be highlighting the many works of charity that have been performed through the central and west parts of the Diocese of Lincoln. Last year, nearly $840,000 in services were provided to nearly 15,000 individuals and almost 5,000 families out of the Hastings office.
In addition to helping homeless individuals and families escape homelessness, and helping individuals and families avoid homelessness, and helping individuals with charity grants because of an inability to pay for the cost of counseling services for some reason, we want to do more.
Because of the increased need to assist women who are escaping abortion and domestic violence throughout the diocese, we will be increasing our services to these vulnerable women in the greater Hastings area and beyond. We will now be expanding our services for these vulnerable women and their children to provide housing and case management on an ongoing basis under the umbrella of St. Gianna’s.
Just as at St. Gianna’s Women’s Homes, we want to help vulnerable women out of an abusive environment and into a stable, permanent safe one- addressing not only their physical, emotional, material, and financial needs but also their spiritual needs as well.
Finally, I would like to thank our many individual and corporate sponsors who support us spiritually with their prayers and penances and materially with donated items not needed from their homes or farms (including vehicles and cash donations) according to their means so we can continue the mission of Jesus Christ until He comes again in His glory on the last day.
We are especially grateful on the occasion of our 18th annual Bountiful Harvest Banquet. If you cannot join us on the 25th, please pray for its success. Please be assured of our continued prayers for you, your families and intentions.
