Family Life & Discipleship

Engaged Encounter retreats are led by two married couples and a priest, who present the Catholic Church's teachings about marriage and demonstrate the wisdom of God's plan for married life. Since 1981, over 11,000 couples of the Diocese have participated in these retreats, which are a standard part of marriage preparation. Thirty married couples of the Diocese participate in this movement. Msgrs. John McCabe, Robert Vasa, Timothy Thorburn, and Fathers Christopher Barak, John Sullivan, Matthew Eickhoff and Sean Kilcawley have overseen this ministry.
