S.T.A.G.E. Theatre will present “An Evening in the Arts” Saturday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m., at The Sacred Heart Center for the Arts 540 N. 31st St., Lincoln.
The event will offer a display of classical art as well as new works by local Catholic artists; a conversation on symbolism in art presented by Lee Hotovy and Father Jamie Hottovy; and an original one-act play.
Hotovy said her idea for the event was to provide a unique evening where “folks can gather to enjoy a conversation on the beauty of art, its meaning, and how it uplifts the spirit.”
Art will be displayed on the numerous walls of the newly restored building so that guests can see the renovated space as well as beautiful works of art.
The culmination of the evening will be “Living on the Ceiling,” an original one-act play written by Hotovy.

“The play speaks to living life simplistically and the value of that in our everyday lives,” she said.
Performers include Joe Neuhaus, who recently portrayed Father Flanagan, along with Julie Johnson, Tatum Maley, David Barkemeier, and Charlotte Brannen.
“The vision we have for the Art Center is to provide opportunities for folks to enjoy the arts in all its forms,” Hotovy said. “We simply want to bring Truth, Beauty, and Goodness by using mediums people can enjoy in a physical way while moving away from screens and the many distractions of our culture.”
All are welcome, but the event is designed for adults and teens. Admission is $10 per student and $20 per adult. Funds raised will provide scholarships for students in the theater program and to help with future projects. S.T.A.G.E. Student Theatre has now expanded in offering classes in ballet, tap, lyrical and social dancing, along with unique events promoting the arts in all its forms. Over the past year, S.T.A.G.E. has produced two musicals, a dance recital, social dance nights, Improv Nights for kids, “The Dream of Gerontius” and Catholic poetry, along with classes and camps.
