Homework Outline
This class sets the foundation for living a moral life by helping students both to use logic and reason when considering their faith and to come to recognize that faith in a loving God is the ultimate means to their happiness. It begins by presenting students with the logic behind believing in God using what is known as "Paschal's Wager." Ultimately, Paschal shows that one "can't lose" if they bet on belief in God, but "lose" if they bet any other way. The class then goes on to present St. Thomas Aquinas' proofs for the existence of God using natural arguments. In addition, the class concludes with discussion on the problem of evil. A homework outline is provided for student notes.
