Homework Outline

This class begins with examining a quote from the Congregation for Catholic Education noting the prevalence of multiple opinions due to the influence of technology. This leads to a search for truth and two potential "traps" or skepticism or relativism. Defining objective and subjective knowledge then sets the framework for the distinction between values and laws. Once this foundation has been set, the problematic reasoning of moral relativism is exposed. The fallacies of situation ethics, consequentialism and proportionalism are specifically discussed. A homework outline is provided for student notes.
