Homework Outline

This class examines the etymology of conscience, recognizes the existence of conscience based in Scripture and common experience, and emphasizes the need to correctly form the conscience since it is not infallible. Four steps are outlined for helping to form the conscience well. This is followed by an in-depth discussion on the meaning, value and role of virtue and a comparison of virtues vs. rules. Various military commercials, “Fishers of Men” and the movie “Courageous” are used as means of understanding and fostering a greater desire for virtue. A homework outline is provided for student notes.
